Along with animals or
by feet, ascents to the mountains are taking place, in order
to visit the Monastery of Prophet Elias and Saint Eutaxy or
to reach the top of mountain Eros. The convent of Saint Eutaxy,
is located in the center of the island and it can be reached
by anyone after a course of 2 hours approximately. In the church
which was built in 1821, you can see and buy very beautiful
handworks. Near it is located the monastery of Prophet Elias.
It is a simple but a beautiful male monastery, inside which
has been imprisoned for some time Theodoros Kolokotronis. At
the East part of the island, you can find the monastery of Virgin
Mary of Zouvra. It is a beautiful monastery, with a unique view.
It was founded in 1814. Other remarkable monasteries are the
ones of Saint Matronas, Saint Nikolas and last the one of the
godhead, where "impassable" is in hold for good.
